Portezuelo Slope, Catamarca

Models Portezuelo Slope is a long and beautiful road up the mountainside in a zigzag shape, bordered on one side by the mountain and the other by deep ravines.
This amazing view from where we can appreciate the beauty of the province of Catamarca, born about 18 km from the city of San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, and connects the valley of the province Ancasti departments, the Alto and Santiago del Estero province. In some stretches of the slope is small balconies that invite a stop along the way, to see the magnificent view from there is, especially in the flowering season of lapachos and clubs drunk, and small towns that appear on the side of the road.
seven kilometers from the base is the first lookout, where you can see the valley of Catamarca and the Sierra de Ambato, declined in many greens do not seem to reach the eye to distinguish.
If you still can climb up for another ten miles of narrow road and sharp bends (so are not recommended at this course when rain is forecast) and then reach the summit. In this high plateau, we see that there are no trees, but tall grasses, and the temperature can be lower than in the valley. Leaving
this sector, the road goes through the town of El Alto, the dam Collagasta where you can catch mackerel, and Las Cañas, reaching Ovanta Bathed, the head of the department. In Los Altos is snuff dryers, and can also visit the Vineyard and the dam Sumampa before entering the Totoral Slope, this time to descend the mountain slopes in a landscape unexpectedly endowed with a lush subtropical jungle. Lapachos appear again, the purple jacaranda trees, sticks drunks, alder, ferns also favored by moisture from these slopes where moisture is concentrated rainfall.
The slope culminates at 1200 meters high, allowing unobstructed sight of the river valley view Paclín. The same course is followed in the rest of the way, back to Catamarca, between the mountains of the High-Graciana and Ancasti.
